Revellers were reportedly unimpressed that she was a no-show, apparently due to her agency double-booking her for another concert in Namibia.
South Coast Bike Fest organiser, Vicky Wentzel of Wozani Africa Events, said the star’s failure to appear was a huge disappointment, to both organisers and fans.
All other headline acts that had been booked to perform at the festival had arrived on time, except for Babes.
This was in spite of having a signed a contract with booking fees paid in full prior to her arrival.
The company had also paid in full for her accommodation, on-site meals, as well as transfers for herself and her dancers.
This had been confirmed with her booking agency.
“Our local production manager, Bruce Jalubani, spent two days trying to assist her management company as her agency had double-booked her to appear in Margate and Namibia on the same day. Attempts were made to find a way to get her from Namibia back to South Africa, but this proved logistically impossible,” she said.
Yet, on her Instagram page, Babes promoted other gigs over the weekend, but remained mum on the South Coast Bike Fest.
Efforts to get comment from her and her management company were also in vain.
