A packed Port Shepstone Civic Centre last Friday featured top eastern band Luxmi Stars along with guest speaker MEC for Human Settlements, Ravi Pillay, presenters from Lotus FM, Mala Lutchman, Dr Veena Lutchman and Vijayluxmi BalaKrishna. Other entertainment was in the form of SA’s Got Talent golden buzzer Fazlyn Naidoo and freestyle dancer Caide Lander. Many of the singers held the audience spellbound with their sensational voices.

Vernon said music was his life and his students formed part of that life. “You are my inspiration and motivation to take music to another level. I’m sure you questioned whether you will ever be able to sing and learn an instrument, well today is proof that you have indeed grown in leaps and bounds from that first day when you learnt your ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ notations, to playing songs and now singing,” he explained. He added that his students had achieved a great accomplishment and he was indeed a proud teacher.

“We can all take a cue from Abraham Lincoln who said: ‘I do the very best I know how, the very best I can and I mean to keep on doing so until the end’,” added Vernon.

He emphasised that enthusiasm was one of the most powerful engines of success. “When you do something, do it with your might. Stamp it with your personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful and you will achieve your objectives. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

“Your courage, dedication, passion and sacrifices through the years have culminated in today’s event. This recording will give you the encouragement and belief that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”
