Park Rynie RTI able to warn road hogs, but not issue fines

DON’T thank Park Rynie Road Traffic Inspectorate officers if you get pulled over for speeding and only receive a warning. Evidently the inspectorate is unable to issue fines.
For near two months now, the Park Rynie RTI offices have had no access to Notice Books, which are used to issue fines for transgressors and it would appear that no Notice Books are expected to arrive any time soon.

According to the claims made to the Mail, irregularities in the tender process are to blame for the lack of Notice Books, which means that RTI officers are presently unable to issue fines for offences such as speeding and driving an unroadworthy vehicle.
This poses a major concern, especially on the N2 between Scottburgh and Pennington, as this stretch of RTI-protected roadway is notorious for excessive speeding.
The most recent incident involved the driver of a Lamborghini who was caught travelling at a speed of 194km/h.

It should, however, be noted that road users do not have free rein, as any motorist caught travelling at a speed exceeding 160km/h will still be arrested and taken into custody.
The same is applicable to road users who drive under the influence of alcohol.
A request for comment on the matter was sent to the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transportation’s media liaison officer, Kwanele Ncalane. However, at the time of going to print, no feedback had been received.
