According to her mother, Winnie, Dineo had been at home when she left for work, but when she returned, her daughter was missing.
Ms Ngcungama said she suspected her former boyfriend, who had been staying with them, of being involved in the teen’s disappearance.
The two had argued, and he had now also disappeared.
“I can’t sleep at night. The pain of imagining what this man could be doing to my child is unbearable,” said the distraught mother.
She added that Dineo had sent her a ‘please call me’ from a number she did not recognise, and when she phoned the number, Dineo had answered but refused to say where she was.
“She said she wanted money, and I agreed, querying where I would deposit it. She then contacted me saying I should put the money into my ex-boyfriend’s bank account. When I asked where he was, she replied that she did not know.”
Ms Ngcungama claimed that to her, it was evident that Dineo was scared and had been told what to say.
“I just want her to be returned home unharmed,” she added.
Margate police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka said police were appealing to anyone with information to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Zolile Sibisi at 082 3398634/082 6863082 or Crime Stop at 0860010111.
