Skhakhane and a second suspect were arrested last Thursday. The second man was later released.

Dumisani Skhakhane (40) appeared in the Ramsgate Court on Monday this week, accused of murdering ANC Oshabeni branch secretary Sifiso Cele (42).

Mr Cele was gunned down at his partner’s home in Margate Extension 3 on the morning of May 7.

Two men stormed into the house and demanded cash and cellphones from the family, in front of their children.

The intruders then reportedly took Mr Cele to a bedroom and shot him four times before fleeing.

Skhakhane and a second suspect were arrested last Thursday. The second man was later released.

The case has been postponed to May 21.

‘Who will vote for us’

Speaking at Mr Cele’s funeral in Oshabeni last Saturday, ANC Member of Parliament Peggy Nkonyeni urged members to unite and do away with factions.

She told members that they needed each other in order to create a unified ANC.

“If we continue killing each other, who is going to vote for us?” asked Mrs Nkonyeni.
