URGENT WATER UPDATE: Valve at Umtamvuna ‘extensively damaged’
The time to repair the damage is estimated to be around six hours.

“Please be informed that the Umthamvuna raw water main valve has been extensively damaged. For repairs, we will need to shut and drain the line. Estimated time to effect repairs is 6 hours which means Umtamvuna plant will be off line.
Affected areas will be Southbroom to Port Edward and inland areas of Kwanzimakwe, Ezinqoleni, KwaXolo, Gcilima, Thelawayeka, Mvutshini, Shobamdlanzi, Mbecuka, Florida, Nodalane, Shobeni and Mlozane areas.”

“STRIKE ACTION:
Please be informed that the Municipality has opened all work depots in Park Rynie, Marburg and Harding for staff to resume duties this morning, however staff have disregarded the court order and are refusing to work and setting their own conditions on how and when they will return to work.
Another ultimatum will be issued to the striking employees to return to work by 12H00 today. If these employees fail to heed to this call, the Municipality will be taking the next step to implement stringent action against these employees.

OPERATIONS UPDATE:
Mthamvuna System
Under this system the area of Port Edward is still out of supply and we working on building up supply reservoir BP2. Restoration time is currently not known but work is continuing to ensure normal supply resumes as soon as possible.
Boboyi System
Under the Boboyi System, we have been able to resuscitate large parts of the following areas: Marburg, Boboyi, Gamalakhe, Shelly Beach, Uvongo and Umtentweni. There will be isolated cases of no water which will be dealt with as soon as possible.
The areas of Ramsgate, Melville up to Hibberdene, Port Shepstone, Manaba and Albersville, Palmview and Location 7 are still without water. Static tanks will be put up today and filled for relief supply.
Harding systems are down therefore Harding town is without water.
Area north is experiencing a couple a breaks which are being attended to by contractors.”
