Traffic officer found guilty of assault appeals his case

He has been employed by the municipality for 13 years.

A former traffic officer who lost his job and was fined R6 000 for assaulting a colleague has brought his case back to court.

Thanduxolo Ndzwanana (52) a former Hibiscus Coast Municipality traffic officer, was found guilty of assaulting his colleague, Vusimuzi Phewa in 2009. Both resigned because of the incident.

Now working as a security officer in Port Shepstone, Mr Ndzwanana said he had recently appealed and the case is  now back in court.

“An injustice was done  when I was a traffic officer and a senior shop steward at the municipality. I will prove my innocence,” he said.

Mr Ndzwanana’s  case is set to be heard in the Port Shepstone court on June 7.

He was employed as a traffic officer by the municipality for 13 years before the incident occurred.
