The woman’s husband, Johann Schmid, will make his third appearance in the Port Shepstone Regional Court in July for trial.
The court postponed the case against Schmid after the defence requested time to have a psychologist compile a report.
Schmid was represented by a senior council, Advocate Chris Snyman, from Pietermaritzburg.
Schmid was arrested on February 26 at a flat in Uvongo after confessing to the murder to his attorney, Mariaan Pieterse, from Forder-Van Wyk.
He said he had strangled his Brazilian wife, Veleria De Almeida Franco (30), on February 9 in their Ostend Drive flat where the couple lived with their four-year-old son.
He reportedly covered her body with a duvet, wrapped it in plastic and concealed it in a cupboard in the bedroom. After four days, when he realised the body was decomposing, he bought a chest freezer from a furniture store in Shelly Beach and placed his wife’s body inside.
After his meeting with Ms Pieterse, police were contacted and both Schmid and Ms Pieterse met police at the flat on February 26. Schmid confessed to the murder and was arrested by Margate SAPS.
