The empowering engagement was coordinated in partnership with the Department of Education (Pinetown District), and was aimed at empowering youth with career guidance and exposure.

Pupils from neighbouring previously disadvantaged schools, which included Tennyson House Project situated in Springfield Park, Durban, a non-profit organisation that cares for orphans, received valuable career information delivered through informative, interactive and entertaining presentations.
Pupils later had an opportunity to spend some time with various departments as part of a “look and feel” tour where they experienced first-hand the daily operations at the utility’s regional head office.

Over the years, the bring a child to work programme – which is the brain child of Cell C – has been the most vital, life changing initiative for pupils, nurturing positive results in preparing leaders of tomorrow who will be vibrant contributors to the economy of the country.
In light of this, Eskom has committed itself to be a catalyst in pupil development and mentoring through this and other youth programmes and initiatives.

“Remember that you are not only the youth of today, but also the leaders of tomorrow, hence we endeavour to provide all the support we can to assist motivated and enthusiastic young people like you,” said General Manager for the KZN Operating Unit, Monde Bala as he reiterated Eskom’s role in society and its commitment to upskilling the youth of our country.

Eskom KZN Operating Unit would like to thank the KZN Department of Education’s Pinetown District, the teachers and the pupils as well as other stakeholders for taking part in this life-changing experience.
