Sabha grows from strength to strength

The chairman reported on a year of good fortunes at the well-supported AGM.

Members and officials of the Port Shepstone and District Andhra Sabha welcomed a number of local temple organisations and members of the public to its 63rd AGM last Wednesday. Elected for another term, chairman Thiruschini Naidoo reported on a year of good fortunes.

She said that her message was a very simple one. “Be strong together! Your ability to enhance an organisation should never be underestimated when love is the underlying aspect of your actions, thoughts and words.”

She added that the past year had been a fluid one based on the ebb and flow of routine and the setting in of practices as perhaps with any other organisation.

“I am grateful that we have been able to fulfil our responsibilities and duties towards our members and organisation. But I suppose enough is never enough and we are constantly analysing and expecting more. What could we have done better, what more could we have done? These are questions that all organisations are faced with,” said Ms Naidoo.

She mentioned that very often the demise of an organisation is the constant thinking of the self and what members are expecting for their benefit. “But once we start changing the dynamics of our thinking and go into a mode of giving rather than expecting, growth is imminent. This is fundamental to the foundation of each and every organisation.”

Guest speaker, Jason Govender, conveyed good wishes to the organisation for hosting a successful AGM. Mr Govender said the 63rd AGM of the Sabha reflected the history and value of its culture.

“When you look back as to what values this organisation has instilled in you, then you reflect on your work and participation in the Andhra Sabha as part of that identity, which is a critical component for a successful life, a meaningful life. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi: ‘change the way you look at things and the things that you look at will change’,” he said. Mr Govender.
