Sports and Specials rev up for annual car show
As usual the local car enthusiast group will be heading for Scottburgh.
THE spotlight will fall on Morris cars at this year’s Scottburgh Classic Car Show, which takes place at Scottburgh High this Sunday, July 8.
Every year a particular marque is highlighted and Morris has been chosen as the 2018 marque. However, there will be many other marvellous makes and models to admire.

Hosted by the Scottburgh Classic Car Club, this annual event features a wide range of pre-1975 cars and motorcycles and is one of the most popular happenings on the KwaZulu-Natal automotive calendar. As usual, many Sports and Specials members will be polishing up their four-wheeled wonders to take part in the show, either as a member of a particular club or as part of the regular Sports and Specials exhibit.
All motoring fans are welcome to take a drive back in time to see the show and to relive the golden era of motoring. Entrance opens for exhibitors at 7.30am and to the general public at 9am to 3pm. Entry fee is R40 for adults and R20 for pensioners and schoolchildren. Secure parking is available at Scottburgh Primary and at Scottburgh Country Club at R10 per vehicle. The show is once again sponsored by the Rising Sun and the proceeds will go to local charities.
There will be a tea garden, a beer tent, plenty of food vendors, a children’s play area and, of course, the magical music from yesteryear that always revs up the nostalgia.
As usual entertainment will include the Marque Parade, the popular History of my Car Parade and the fabulous Fun and Fashion Parade. Guests can add to the atmosphere by dressing according to the era of their show cars or by wearing striking outfits that were fashionable during any of the decades from the elegant 1940s to the hippy 1970s.
Brett Bellenger, who is coordinating the Sports and Specials show contingent, reminds members of the car group that all exhibitors must pre-register for the show on the website www.scottburghclassiccarshow.co.za. If you are planning to join the Sports and Specials at the show or would like help to register contact Brett at 083 4523304.
