Hibberdene Happenings: Happy family gathering brings cheer
Donations of winter warmth will be presented to Pastor Johan Nel for distribution to those less fortunate.
Your scribe made an unexpected visit to Zinkwazi Beach on the North Coast on Sunday to spend a few precious hours with her niece Robyn Laing, her husband David and children Chloë, who turns four on July 5th, and Eddie (18 months), prior to their return of their home in Melbourne, Australia.

The family has been visiting in South Africa for three weeks and returned home yesterday so unfortunately a fleeting visit was all that was possible. The entire family was stricken by a dose of the dreaded flu during their visit, but are showing signs of recovery.
Sardine fever
The sardines eventually landed in Hibberdene, causing much excitement, although Pumula appears to have been their destination of choice.
The first item to diarise for this weekend is the men’s breakfast to be held at the Methodist Church at 7am on the morning of Saturday, July 7th. The cost is only R20 per person and all men are most welcome to attend. Should you wish to join in, contact Louis Nortje at 039 6992610 to confirm attendance or for more information – and remember to take a friend or two along with you.
Flea market
Next up on the day, from 9am onwards, the Mtwalume flea and craft market takes place at Koelwaters Resort.
Donations of winter warmth will be presented to Pastor Johan Nel for distribution to those less fortunate encountered during his ministry, so your support will be much appreciated.
Besides which, you can enjoy all the usual flea market treats, such as delicious food, arts and crafts, live music and great camaraderie.
You’re invited
All are invited to the next enlightenment session of the Hare Krishna Society to be held at Hibberdene Care Centre on Saturday, July 28, at 3pm. Visitors will be warmly welcomed and supper will be served. Contact Rajin Mahabeer at 082 8362758 for more details.
