Exotic orchids have wide appeal
Experts at the show were only too willing to share their knowledge.
There’s something about an orchid’s soft, elegant petals that make them almost addictive to look at. Their ability to bring a sense of tranquility and love to any room has made them a beloved flower for people of all backgrounds.

Whether you’ve been growing orchids for years, or just love to admire their beauty, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at any one of these orchid shows.
And that was no different at the Alfred County Orchid Society’s winter show at the Margate Methodist Church last Saturday. There was a bounty of unusual and exotic orchids for sale from several local growers. This was a wonderful opportunity for budding orchid enthusiasts to add some real beauties to their window sills, patios and shade houses.
Orchid fans were intrigued by the vivid colours and beauty of the unique flowers. With colours ranging from white to brown, to yellow and dark purple, the orchids attracted many visitors. On hand were orchid experts, only too willing to share their knowledge.
