Margate Moves: Fabulous festive fun on offer
There's loads of entertainment on the cards.
THERE is no better way to shake off the winter blues than by celebrating Christmas in July.
`Winter Wonderland’ featuring the talented duo of Vicky de Villiers and Calli Thomson will be staged at the Azalea Hall at Margate Retirement Village next Saturday (July 28).

It is a supper theatre offering so pack a festive picnic basket and take along your own liquid refreshments and sit back and listen to two great singers, who incidentally also provide entertainment by playing different musical instruments.
Traditional Christmas carols and songs will be on the programme as well as a selection of well-loved numbers. Doors open at 6pm to give everyone enough time to enjoy their packed supper and the show begins at 7pm.
Tickets cost R70 per person and are on sale from the RAC or admin offices at the village. To book a table phone 039 3125000.
Movie boffs take note there will be a special matinee screening of that well-loved musical classic `The King and I’ starring Deborah Kerr and Yul Bryner at the village.

Special meeting
The Ramsgate Community Policing Forum will hold a special general meeting at the end of the month.
All Ramsgate residents are urged to attend, it takes place at the Lions’ Community Centre in Glenmarkie Road on Monday, July 30 at 6pm.
The meeting has been called in order to adopt changes to the forum’s constitution arising from the registration of the Ramsgate Urban Precinct and the election of the committee due to restructuring.
Copies of the constitution by email or in hard copy format will be made available by Quinn Meecham at ops@ramsgatecpf.co.za or from the forum’s office on request.
Take note no other matters will be included on the agenda at this special meeting.
Talking cricket
Legendary South African cricket player Graeme Pollock is the guest speaker at a special lunch at Margate Bowling Club this Friday (20th) at 12.30pm.
Many people rate him as the best batsman this country has ever produced and his talk should not be missed by cricket enthusiasts
AGM time
Give a Child a Family, a Margate-based organisation which looks after children and mothers holds its annual general meeting this week.
A cordial invitation is extended to the public to attend. The AGM takes place at the Gates of Praise Church this Friday (20th) at 1.30pm.

This week’s red carpet is rolled out for Penny and Joe Houghton and their children Daniel and April. The Houghtons who hail from Dublin, Ireland are visiting Penny’s dad Howard Osborne from Ramsgate. They are wished a lovely holiday.
