WATCH: Rotarians and hospital staff ‘get their dance moves on’ in Gcilima

The great Nelson Mandela would have been proud of their efforts.

Mandela Day was really festive for about 400 needy people in the Gcilima area with Port Shepstone Rotary and Regional Hospital teaming up to hand out blankets, clothing and various other necessities.

Rotarians Dr Gerald Baldrey, Sister Dudu Ndlovu, who run the Thutuzela Rape Trauma Crisis Centre, and a team from the hospital spent the day screening for diabetes, blood pressure, eye problems and other medical conditions.

Viby programme director Phumelele Bohlela, who grew up in Gcilima, and her event co-ordinators all dressed in pink had everyone on their feet – even the Rotarians and the frail – dancing along… and exercising to a cool beat.

Rotary President Pastor Reggie John opens the proceedings with prayer.

Rotary President Pastor Reggie John then opened the proceedings with pray followed by words of wisdom and encouragement from hospital CEO Bawinile Ndlovu.

Mounds of necessities were then handed out. The great Nelson Mandela would surely have been proud.
