Harding cops pounce on criminals

The men were linked to more business robberies.

Harding Saps, who were performing crime prevention duties last week Friday at about 10pm hit it right when they spotted four occupants acting suspiciously in a car on Musgrave Road.

The officers, Constables Mnoneleli Mpaxa, Lindelwa Xhakana, Joel Shusha and Asekho Sakwe from the Harding Crime Prevention Unit, stopped the vehicle and searched the occupants and the motor vehicle.

A firearm and ammunition recovered by the police. 

“Three unlicensed firearms, 46 unlicensed rounds of ammunition, a large quantity of suspected stolen property as well as some cash was found in the boot of the vehicle. Four men aged between 29 and 35 years were taken to Harding police station for detention,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka.

Upon investigation police discovered that the men were also linked to five business robberies in Mzamba and Port Edward. They appeared in the Izinqolweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week on charges of three counts of possession of unlicensed firearms, of unlicensed ammunition and suspected stolen property.

Police search the vehicle which was used by the four men. 

They also appeared at Bizana Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday charged with a business robbery that had occurred in the Mzamba precinct.

The firearms will be taken for ballistic testing to determine if they have been used previously to commit other crimes.
