The society will continue to conduct regular unannounced visits.
Child Welfare Margate recently conducted an unannounced visit to ‘Tent City’, the haven for the homeless in School Road, Margate, because of concerns raised by the community.

The shelter, as reported in the South Coast Herald dated August 10, is run by Eugene Saunders (57) and his partner, Alet Swart (50) who are trying to do their bit to help those who have fallen on hard times by giving them a safe place to stay; warm, clean bedding; a shower, and a plate of food.
Mandy Erasmus of Child Welfare, Margate said the society was satisfied with conditions at Tent City.
“We would like to assure people that we have found everything to be in order, under the circumstances, and the welfare of the children in question was favourable.”
She added that regular unannounced visits would be undertaken to monitor the situation.
