Carene Breytenbach, a former Miss SA World, said they were inspired to uplift Mandy Ndovela, who could not afford the cost of attending her matric farewell.

Mandy and her four siblings are being raised by a single mother and her wish had been to be able to attend her matric farewell.

Mandy was sponsored with a dress, shoes, clutch bag, jewellery, photoshoot, Brazilian hair treatment, make-up and nails as well as a convertible BMW to transport her to the event, all this done in the spirit of Ubuntu.

“In celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday this year, this was a perfect way to make Mandy’s dream come true.”

Mrs Breytenbach said it was very inspiring to see how many people were willing to help with the project.

“This reaction gave me such a strong feeling of hope and admiration towards the local women of Ray Nkonyeni. I did not have to plead or ask for money. Their generosity and kindness was overwhelming.”

Sponsors included: Melissa Vurovecz, Magda Ermitao, Like-A-Lady Image consultant, Little Things Photography, the ROST.co Professional Team, Lynne McGrae.
