Three killed in head-on collision near Msinsini

A tipper truck and a bakkie collided head-on.

Two teenagers and a woman lost their lives in a head-on collision on the P75 at Lelos Drift Road, in Msinsini on Tuesday this week.

According to police spokesman, Captain Petros Zenzele Mpinge, the horrific accident occurred a kilometre from Msinsini police station at about 5pm.

“A tipper truck collided with a bakkie. Two teenage schoolchildren and a woman who were front passengers in the bakkie died on impact. Three others were seriously injured. The injured were taken to Port Shepstone Regional Hospital for urgent medical attention. The driver of the bakkie, who was trapped, had to extricated using the Jaws of Life,” he said.

Three counts of culpable homicide are being investigated.

Last Saturday three people sustained injuries in a collision on the R102 in Hibberdene at about 9.20pm.

A bakkie was offloading passengers when a car came from behind and crashed into the bakkie.

Three passengers from the bakkie were injured and the driver of the car was seriously injured.

All were taken to Turton Clinic for treatment. A case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened and is being investigated by Hibberdene Saps.
