Local gospel singer Ngesi Mvimbi scoops top award

The overjoyed songstress said she believed the award would open new doors for her.

A local gospel star and Wild Coast Sun employee was named best artist of the year in the public promotions category at the Mpumakoloni International Gospel Music Awards held in Port Elizabeth recently.

Ngesi Mvimbi, whose music career began at a young age before she started recording in 2009 said she had been very excited to win the award, beating renowned artists who have already made it big in the gospel industry.

Having already released three albums, Ngesi is determined to release more albums as she continue juggling her work life, being a mother and a gospel star.

She attributed her success to her colleagues, family and friends who, she says, have supported her from day one.

“I was positive about winning this award, but when it came to reality I was quite ecstatic.”

The overjoyed Ngesi said she believed the award would open new doors for her.
