“In memory of the police officials and police reservists who paid the highest price in service to the nation, Cabinet issued a directive that the national flag be lowered to half-mast from August 31 until September 2,” said Captain Pandarum.
A plaque and a vase of white flowers were placed at the foot of the mast to commemorate those who had died. Scriptures were read by Captain Adam Francis who also led everyone in prayer.
Colonel Ruiters stressed the importance of utilising all safety gear such as their bulletproof vests while in the line of duty.
“Criminals are ruthless and too many of our dedicated policewomen and policemen are losing their lives,” said Colonel Ruiters, “We must take precautionary measures and make use of all means at our disposal to remain safe while executing our duties.”
