Karaoke stars dress to impress at hobo party in Uvongo

There was singing, laughter and plenty of spirit at the Amateur Karaoke Association's Hobo Party.

The popular Amateur Karaoke Association (AKA) hosted its fifth annual Hobo Party at the Douglas Mitchell Sports Club on May 13, drawing a lively crowd of local music lovers for an evening filled with laughter, fun and entertainment.

Guests embraced the hobo-themed event with enthusiasm, dressing up for the occasion and enjoying a night of karaoke, dancing and prizes. DJ Long John Silver kept the party atmosphere alive with a selection of themed songs that had singers lining up at the microphone well into the night.

AKA founder Gerrie Odendaal said the event was once again a great success.

“AKA is a well-established association with a mission to encourage local singers to go out, grab a mic and let their voices be heard,” he said.

Odendaal added that several singers who first performed at AKA events had gone on to appear on bigger and more recognised platforms over the years.

“Most of us simply love music and singing for fun. We encourage people to join AKA, be brave, and take a step forward into their singing dreams,” he said.

The best-dressed couple title went to Tweezi and Gary Leite.

The best-dressed men were Romley Wundrum, John Silver, and Paul Bossa. Best dressed women were Kathy Coleman, Mariska Jacobs, and Gloria Linnell.
