Tanya Visser's easy and fun approach to gardening was catchy and inspirational.

After listening to gardening guru Tanya Visser talk last Saturday many inspired gardeners probably rushed home to sprinkle fertiliser on their lawns or prune a lavender bush or two.

Some (and not mentioning names) were out way after dusk ‘running around like Mary Poppins’ (as Tanya would say) spraying those dreaded weeds. A golden tip from Tanya is never let your weeds flower – one year of seeding is seven years of weeding. Another important tip to kill slugs and snails is to put out a saucer and fill it with beer. The slugs will be attracted to the beer, go for a sip, fall in and drown.

Tanya’s interesting ‘tea and talk’ at Builders Express at Southcoast Mall gave guests cost-saving gardening tips and must-have products and plants to achieve the perfect spring garden.

Tanya’s in-depth knowledge and extensive experience coupled with her hilarious sense of humour kept her audience entertained for most of the morning.

A long-lasting passion of Tanya’s is to expose others to the immense amount of beauty that can be found in a garden, inspiring her to create and participate in numerous gardening shows and events, such as The Cape Town Flower Show and Builders Express talks that have taken her all over Southern Africa, as well as TV shows like The Gardener.
