Scenic shoreline walk was more ‘chill’ than ‘challenge’

Many enthusiastic walkers took full advantage of spring.

One of the great things about South Coasters is their love for the abundance of picture-perfect beaches along our coast. Come sunshine, wind or clouds, you’re bound to find locals enjoying the sights and sounds that are on offer at the coast!

An example of this was the presence of many enthusiastic walkers who took full advantage of spring by joining the Shoreline Challenge from the Oslo Beach to Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club last Sunday. They were taking part in the seventh of the eight beach walks that make up the Shoreline Challenge.

The walks, each of them about 5km in length, are being held on alternate Sundays from June 10 until September 16 and cover the areas from the Hibberdene to Manaba.

The first shoreline challenge, the brainchild of environmentalist Dave Hallé, was held in 2009 and saw challengers completing six walks from Hibberdene to Port Edward.

The proceeds were used for a number of worthy environmental projects. The final Shoreline Challenge takes place from Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club to Lucien Beach on Sunday, September 16.
