Tweni Talk: Water pipes left damaged
People who work from home sit with the loss of revenue and driveways are being dug up and not reinstated properly.
IT is a very frustrating time for Umtentweni residents with contractors, apparently from Eskom, digging up and damaging old water pipes, resulting in a loss of precious water.

The most frustrating thing is that they do not assume responsibility for their actions and affected homeowners left with dry taps have to take it upon themselves to try and get Ugu plumbers in for repairs.
The contractors are closing off roads and disrupting everyone. People who work from home sit with the loss of revenue and driveways are being dug up and not reinstated properly … and there are lots of false promises.
Clean sweep
Liz Willey and Cheryl Aveyard from the Umtentweni Conservancy team picked up litter along Old St Faiths, from Norman Road to just past the whale deck, recently. A whopping 11 bags of rubbish were collected, including quite an assortment of plastic, glass, a broken pressure cleaner, odd shoes and even a child’s sparkly tiara.
The next stretch from the whale deck to Jaxx Restaurant is even worse and the team will hopefully get to it this coming week. Please contact Liz at 082 3771423 if you would like to be part of this awesome project.
Eye-opener walk
Moira King took part in the northern section of a series of eight beach walks hosted by Mzimkhulu Honorary Officers, ‘Walking in Nature’ and South Coast Tourism.

The walks started at Hibberdene and finished at Lucien beach. Moira said it was beautiful to walk along some of the secluded sections of beaches which one does not usually get to see.
Some sad news
Rusty Schutte died on July 26 after a long illness and last week his wife Pam Schutte, who turned 81 on September 1, suffered a heart attack and died at home last Wednesday. The Golden Singers and Mbango Choir organised a memorial service at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Sea Park on Monday (17th). There was a wonderful turnout of friends and family to celebrate Pam’s life.
Send your pics
The 2019 Tweni calendar, a fund-raiser for the Tweni Crime Watch camera upgrade, is coming together well.
The team is looking for local photographs taken by local photographers, so please send high-resolution pics to leila@venturenet.co.za.
CPF meetings
Minutes will be emailed to Tweni residents a few days before the meeting, which always takes place on the last Tuesday of the month. The forum also aims to have a speaker of interest at future meetings and the first guest is Brigadier Sandra Nala from Port Shepstone Police Station.
