Newly appointed CEO of Ugu South Coast Tourism, Phelisa Mangcu, talked about her plans for the South Coast. She plans to take care of the supply and demand cycle to get the South Coast back on the map again. Phelisa did not shy away from saying the South Coast had been among the most talked-about holiday destinations in the country but, alas, no longer. She intended to rectify this.

She went on to enlighten guests on effective community tourism development, by which visitors could have an authentic, high quality experience that they would remember for a long time. “It is important to have an inventory of existing and potential attractions that draw tourists to our towns. Places of natural and scenic significance should be on top of the list.”

She said that compiling an inventory of the area’s assets, especially those relating to its distinctive history and culture, would attract more visitors and strengthen the region’s established image as the ‘Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom.’
