‘Missing’ mother and children return home – daughter (5) dies after being struck by vehicle

Tragically, while alighting from the taxi at Amandawe, five-year-old Minenhle, ran into on-coming traffic where she was struck by a vehicle.

Thandeka Msomi and her two children who were reported missing earlier in September are said to have returned home safely on October 2.

According to the Saps, the woman had planned a trip to Johannesburg and, when she arrived at a bus rank in Durban, was robbed of her cell phone resulting in her being unable to inform family of her plans.

Tragically, however,  while alighting from the taxi at Amandawe, Ms Msomi’s five-year-old daughter, Minenhle, ran into on-coming traffic and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

“She later succumbed to her injuries. A culpable homicide docket has been opened for investigation,” said provincial Saps spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala.
