Police step on the gas to recover stolen property
A total of 53 gas cylinders were recovered by Port Shepstone police.
A business in Marburg was broken into recently by intruders who gained entry to the property by cutting a fence.
A security guard on duty noticed the two men and contacted his employer who then called the police.
Several gas bottles were found in a ditch near the fence and others were recovered in the Mbambayi area in Murchison.
“Fifty-three 9kg cylinders were recovered by Port Shepstone police. One suspect (38) appeared in court on Tuesday this week on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property and was granted bail. The case was postponed for further investigation,” said police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge.
The recovered property was returned to the owner who was thrilled to have his property back so soon after the theft.
Detective Constable Rouen Govender of Port Shepstone Saps is the investigating officer.
