The course is a collaborative exercise between most Rotary Clubs in the province and makes a noticeable contribution to social cohesion and nation building.
The Rotary Youth Committee of Port Shepstone recently offered 80 young South Africans the unique opportunity to take part in this course at Port Shepstone High, from September 30 to October 6.
The potential leaders, drawn from the ranks of grade 11 pupils from more than 40 KZN schools, come from a varied socio-economic background.
Each Rotary Club sponsors two pupils from the schools with which it is associated.
It was a vibrant week, jam-packed with fun learning activities.
The pupils’ values, attitudes, knowledge and skills were challenged non-stop.
Leadership competencies were put into practice and tested throughout the course.
The pupils were given wide-ranging opportunities to learn and grow, both as people and as leaders.
They also visited local businesses to gain an insight into how they are run and to help them decide on a career choice.
