Notice: Planned water shutdown tomorrow, Thursday (11th) – will you be affected?

Several coastal and inland areas will be affected.

Ugu District Municipality has announced a planned a shutdown of the Bhobhoyi and Umthamvuna water treatment works this, Thursday, October 11.

The treatment works at Bhobhoyi will be closed due to the pipeline connection in the new clariflocculator, filters and chlorine building. At Umthamvuna, work will include the installation of a raw water inlet sluice gate in the chemical building.

Affected areas for Bhobhoyi plant, from 8am to 4pm:

  • Hibberdene,
  • Southport,
  • Anerley,
  • Port Shepstone,
  • Bhobhoyi,
  • Shelly Beach,
  • Uvongo,
  • Margate,
  • Ramsgate (north and south),
  • Gamalakhe,
  • Murchison,
  • Marburg,
  • Nyandezulu,
  • Msikaba and
  • part of KwaMadlala.

Affected areas for Umthamvuna, from 8am to 8pm:

  •  Southbroom to Port Edward,
  •  Kwanzimakwe,
  • Ezinqoleni,
  • Kwaxolo,
  • Gcilima,
  • Thelawayeka,
  • Mvuntshini,
  • Shobamdlanzi,
  • Mbecuka,
  • Florida,
  • Nodalane,
  • Shobeni, and
  • Mlozane .

Ugu has urged customers to use water sparingly during this period as full supply is expected to be restored only the following day. Relief supply where required will be prioritised to health facilities and schools due to limitation of water tankers.
