FIVE armed men travelling in a white motor car forced a delivery vehicle off the road in the Inkombo area of Malangeni near Umzinto recently.
The delivery vehicle, carrying a variety of beverages, was made to stop. The men alighted from their vehicle and produced firearms, demanding the keys to the delivery vehicle.
“The driver and crew of the delivery vehicle were forced into the car, driven away and left in a sugarcane plantation while the other hijackers drove off with the truck and its load,” said Port Shepstone Saps communications officer, Captain Petros Mpinge.

The driver of the delivery vehicle had sustained head injuries. The truck, supposedly belonging to a local liquor outlet, was later recovered at a sugarcane field in Malangeni.
A case was registered at the Umzinto Saps and the case has since been transferred to detectives at the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit in Port Shepstone.
