Tweni Talk: Never say never and always be prepared

The next morning she found a contractor’s ladder propped against her house.

DON’T we all think it will never happen to us? Bags, keys and money was stolen at Quenchers between midnight and 00.30am last Saturday. If anyone has any information, please contact the Port Shepstone SAPS.

And a noise awoke Lorraine Jooste at approximately 1.30am last Sunday morning. She put the outside lights on, but didn’t see anything. However, the next morning she found a contractor’s ladder propped against her house and Derick Morris suspects that it was a ladder stolen from his garage the previous week. Please keep all tools and equipment under lock and key when not in use.

Horrible experience

Dianne Prepok and some friends spent a wonderful morning last Saturday learning a new craft in Hillcrest. They then stopped off to get a take-away before continuing their journey back home – only to emerge from the shopping centre to see her car disappearing in the direction of Inanda. What a horrible feeling! The SAPS were fantastic, they took Di away to get statements and then returned her to her friends who were waiting to be collected by Don Solomon. This is becoming the norm these days – with cars being stolen on a daily basis.

Take note

The annual closed season for catching East Coast rock lobster aka crayfish or ‘crays’ starts on November 1 and will be in place until the last day of February. Don’t break the law and have respect for the sea.

Thank you

A very big thank you goes to the Venter family! So far, R940 has been raised from the sale of milk tarts, which was donated towards the camera upgrade fund.

There will also be a monthly boost from the Muddy Boots market now held on the first Saturday of the month – the next one is on November 3rd.

Please contact Johan Braak at 081 8184203 for more information. Calendars are in the process of being printed.

Attend the talk

The next Umtentweni CPF meeting is on October 30th and the guest speaker is from the SAPS. The discussion will deal with rape, trauma and drugs. It will be an interesting talk and a great opportunity to get first-hand information.
