New Woolies food store opens

There was a buzz of excitement at the opening of the Hibiscus Mall's new Woolworth Food.

The new Woolworths Food store finally opened its doors at Hibiscus Mall last Thursday.

Centre manager Alice Brandsma said they hoped to have a great December with Woolworths Food taking some of the pressure off its sister store in Shelly Centre.

Everyone the Herald spoke to at the opening of the new store said they loved the look and feel of the shop.

Brandy Shangase said the store was ‘beautiful’ and that she had enjoyed her shopping experience, while Eleasha Keen felt the new shop was ‘awesome – and about time!’

Loving the new Woolworths Food are Frikkie Strauss and his wife, Jeanie of Ramsgate.

Woolworths regional manager Chriss Kale, was on hand to greet shoppers with a smile and a friendly word.

Mr Kale said the store has been long time coming and that it was great to see that customers were loving it.

Memmy Pumane and Kenneth Tundzi of Margate Extension 3 give the new Woolworths Food the thumbs up.

“It’s very exciting and it’s great to see the locals supporting it. We have brought Woolworths to their doorstep, so now they they don’t have have to travel to Shelly Beach,” he said.

To add to the excitement, Mrs Brandsma said this was just the first of many exciting new developments at the mall, adding that customers could expect ‘more convenience… coming soon’.

“The mall’s cosmetic revamp will include new front signage, to replace that which was struck by lightning earlier this year.”
