The accused is believed to have lured a 13-year-old victim to his house, instructed the child to sleep over and then raped him.

A Park Rynie man is being held in police custody after turning himself in to police for rape.

The 53-year-old is believed to have lured his 13-year-old victim to his house on Monday night, November 5 at 9pm and watched a movie with him until it was late.

“When the child wanted to leave, the man instructed him to sleep over and then raped him,” said Port Shepstone Saps communications officer, Captain Petros Mpinge.

The next morning, the child realised what had happened and reported the matter.

This Monday, a week after the crime was committed, the man handed himself over to the police and was placed in police custody until his appearance in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court.
