Advocate heads up Umuziwabantu
According to the mayor, the appointment of the advocate was endorsed by the Cogta MEC.
An acting municipal manager has finally been appointed at Umuziwabantu municipality in Harding after months of uncertainty since the post became vacant.
Advocate Reshwant Brijraj was appointed until a candidate is appointed to take up the position for the next five years.

The advocate is a former Dundee Municipality acting manager and deputy chairman of the KZN Civil Society Coalition.
Mayor Dixie Nciki said Advocate Brijraj had been appointed on a three-month contract, until feedback on who gets the five-year contract to head the municipality is received from KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube.
According to the mayor, the appointment of the advocate was endorsed by the Cogta MEC, based on his merit, as he had previously served in government sectors and was ‘well experienced’.
The delay in appointing a permanent municipal manager at the municipality has been widely criticised by community members and opposition parties in council, who claim the process has taken too long and was against the rules and regulations.
Other critical vacant posts which the municipality has reportedly failed to fill include those of the chief financial officer and head of corporate services.
However, the mayor said, although it had been a long process, interviews had been held and council had made a recommendation to the MEC, whose endorsement of the candidates to fill the posts was awaited.
