Chamber breakfast talks tourism
It is evident that the South Coast is still treasured as a leisure destination.
Chief marketing officer of Proudly SA, Happy Ngidi and CEO of Ugu South Coast Tourism Phelisa Mangcu, delivered informative talks on tourism at the last South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry business breakfast for 2018, which was held at KC’s Coffee Shop in Izotsha.

Ms Mangcu said it was evident that the South Coast was still treasured as a leisure destination. “It is especially encouraging that tourism has been able to create or sustain a number of employment opportunities. Given South Africa’s high unemployment numbers, this trend is exciting, as it highlights the real potential that tourism has in an economy.”
Ms Mangcu reminded guests that they were well aware that visitors valued our area’s beautiful beaches and saw the South Coast primarily as a leisure destination.
“We have encouraged people who come here for leisure purposes to also visit some of our hinterland areas.”
Ms Ngidi said Proudly SA was the ‘buy local’ campaign launched in 2001 by government, organised business, organised labour and community organisations to boost job creation and pride in things local by promoting South African companies and their home-grown products and services.
“Buying South African stimulates an increased demand for locally-produced products and services. This translates into the safeguarding of existing employment opportunities, economic growth and the creation of more quality employment opportunities in our country.”
She added that by buying Proudly SA, both consumers and businesses were making a personal contribution to nation-building. “Consumers get an assurance of quality because only quality products carry the Proudly South African mark.”
