A provincial operation to recover unlicensed firearms and ammunition proved extremely successful in the Port Edward area over the festive season, with 32 arrests being made.
Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, said 67 pistols, two shotguns, three rifles and two homemade firearms were recovered.

“All the firearms will be taken for ballistic testing to establish if they were used in any other crimes in the province.”
It is hoped these ongoing operations will help reduce faction fights, stock theft, taxi-related and other serious crimes.
