#Matric2018: Intle is tops at Marsec

The school recorded a total of 175 subject distinctions across 13 subjects.

The 2018 matric class of Marburg Secondary achieved a 91.28 percent pass rate in the recent National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.

The school recorded 175 subject distinctions across 13 subjects. isiZulu as a first additional language produced the highest number of subject distinctions for the sixth consecutive year. The marked improvement in the results of pupils in mathematical literacy, geography, physical sciences, tourism and life orientation was also noted.

Intle Bebula is Marsec’s top pupil, racking up an impressive seven distinctions.

Fifty-two percent of the candidates who sat for the 2018 NSC examinations obtained bachelors passes, 27 percent obtained diploma passes and 14 percent obtained higher passes.

 

Top of the matric class for 2018 was Intle Bebula (91 percent and seven distinctions), Akhona Anele Hlobisile Hlope (85 percent and five distinctions) and Siphumelele Mkhize (82 percent and five distinctions).

The senior management team at the school noted that the input by all teachers from Grades 8 and 11 was just as important as that of Grade 12 teachers, for they determine the kind of result that is achieved at the end of a pupils’ schooling career.
