IN one of the most brazen house robberies to have hit the coast in some time, an elderly Pennington woman defended herself and her husband with a sword.
At around 11 pm on Monday night, the elderly couple was watching television in their Kingfish Road home in Pennington when their dogs began barking inside the house.

Three men, with their faces partially covered, entered the home. Two of the men were armed, with a knife and a hammer.
The woman however did not sit idly by – she armed herself with an ornamental sword hanging on the lounge wall in an attempt to defend herself and her husband.
The intruders managed to subdue her, and ripped off her necklace. One of the men then stabbed her husband.
The three suspects fled with the necklace and a cell phone. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Detective Constable Khamisa at 039 9781900.
Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis said “We appeal to the public to ensure thatsecurity gates are locked and all precautionary measures are taken to protect yourself and your property.”
