Holiday fraud accused to appear in court

Police believe that several people have fallen victim of this type of crime.

A Margate woman (35) who was arrested on suspicion of having committed fraud related to holiday accommodation bookings is due to appear in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court again tomorrow (Thursday), January 17.

Bail was previously denied.

The woman is accused of advertising a flat to rent as holiday accommodation, taking payment from would-be holidaymakers and then disappearing with the money.

It is believed that several people have fallen victim to this scam, and Margate detectives are appealing to anyone who has been been defrauded in any type of holiday scam to contact Warrant Officer Petro de Wit at 039 3129800.
