The young man was interviewed on Ugu Youth Radio recently, which he felt had been a great start in promoting his song.

His passion for this genre of music has led him on a path where he wants to make a living from it and not simply treat it as a hobby.
Last year he produced a track entitled Pray, explaining that it is from his planned extended play (EP) called YOLO (You Only Live Once).
“The song attracted attention on the coast and has been play-listed on certain local radio stations,” he said.

His album is planned for release in March this year and he hopes that it’ll take South Coast hip-hop to another level.
Tidy Vee has always loved hip-hop music and as a youngster he would rap along to songs while listening on headphones plugged into his cellphone, using the phone as a makeshift microphone.
When he lost his cellphone, he panicked, then improvised – using a toothbrush as a microphone and practising while looking in the mirror.
“I stressed when I lost my phone, but this actually taught me to think creatively,” he said.
He’s inspired by rapper Nasty C and especially by his blow-up or break-out song Juice Back.

“What I like about the rapper is that he always delivers a message to the audience in an appropriate way, humble, but with confidence.”
Like most artists starting out, finding studios and people who believe in him and his work has been the biggest challenge.
“It can get tiring rapping on beats but never getting to hear what you are doing,” he explained.
“My parents would like me to be a doctor or a lawyer, but it’s music that’s in my blood.”
The stage name Tidy Vee came about after he’d sung a few songs, rapping about his life, which people came to hear.

“They said ‘boy, your raps are tidy’ so I started calling myself Tidy Vee, which caught on and others said it was creative.”
He thanked #Active_Music_Entertainment for its help in promoting his music.
“They didn’t lose hope, even when I was struggling with connections. They taught me how to push my music and told me to have my own project so that people will know what I’m all about … that project is YOLO.”
