Umdoni Municipality strives to improve services

FOLLOWING the success of its festive season plan which provided some stability to the provision of municipal services during the holiday period, Umdoni Municipality has now embarked on Project Khaedu.

Project Khaedu is a government initiative, designed to prepare managers for site visits at the coalface of service delivery.

‘Khaedu’ which means ‘challenge’ in Tshi-Venda has been designed to ensure service delivery improvements in key areas. The management teams, led by municipal manager, Dr Vuyi Tsako, have identified road maintenance, street naming, street sweeping, cleaning of ablution blocks and customer care as focal points for this project.

This, in turn, has led to the Umdoni Service Delivery Improvement Plan being developed. This aims to provide a more focused approach to service delivery. Progress will be monitored on a monthly basis and sites will be re-visited quarterly.

The teams were deployed to their respective sites on Friday, January 11.

Municipal manager, Dr Vuyi Tsako gained first-hand experience in covering potholes on her recent visit to the roads maintenance team.

“The municipality is working harder and smarter to strengthen service delivery and ensure customer satisfaction and to see Umdoni Municipality’s vision become a reality,” said communications officer, Zime Gcaba.
