Chairman Dinesh Pillay said many senior citizens are unable to attend functions and socialise due to frailty, poor health or household responsibilities but are still in need of support and companionship.

Chairman of the M² Community Association, Dinesh Pillay assists Ambiga Nair in a fun game.

“With this in mind, M² Community Association has monthly meetings as the elderly are the backbone of the community. Instead of treating their elders with appreciation and respect, many families are often either too busy or simply dismiss them and their contributions to their community and family.

“Our association helps to play a part in ensuring they are well cared for. We have established educational programmes, games and fun activities that promote active aging within our community.”

Regular attendee Sumba Govender enjoys a game.

Mr Pillay said that, in this safe environment, seniors receive a hearty lunch, have their health monitored and take part in exercise and wellness programmes.
