Perilous potholes do damage

As an interim measure, the pothole was highlighted on the road with white spray paint and filled with sand.

If you haven’t as yet hit the giant pothole along the R102 northbound before the Port Shepstone Country Club consider yourself lucky.

Journalist, Shona Aylward – and at least one of her colleagues – hit this pothole last week wrecking her car’s tyre and buckling the rim.

The incident was a costly and unplanned financial setback, all the more distressing as it occurred in the notoriously ‘long’ month of January.

She is not alone – other motorists have also damaged the wheels of their vehicles in this cavernous pothole.

As an interim measure, the pothole has been highlighted on the road with white spray paint and filled with sand.

Journalist Shona Aylward gives the huge pothole on the R102 near Port Shepstone Country Club the thumbs down, and asks why it hasn’t been repaired.

An email was sent to the department of transport, but no response had been received at the time of going to print.

The department also needs to pay attention to the overgrown verges and unchecked vegetation along the R102 between Hibberdene and Port Edward.

  • Editor’s note: The monster pothole near the Port Shepstone Country Club has been fixed. Thanks to those responsible.
