Rotary cares for children’s welfare

Child Welfare Port Shepstone grateful for the generous support.

The Rotary Club of Port Shepstone recently bought cheer to Child Welfare South Africa, Port Shepstone and hope to the many needy children in the area with a substantial donation of R30 000. This money was the proceeds from the recent fundraiser ‘Coins for Charity’ that took place at Shelly Centre and Southcoast Mall in January.

Child Welfare public relations officer (PRO) Carol Meth said the money will be used towards the organisation’s ‘Back2School’ programme, assisting needy children with school uniforms and supplies.

“We are ever so grateful for the generous support from Rotary Port Shepstone, the sponsors and the public that contributed on the day. Your kindness has eased the burden for many who cannot afford the bare essentials and put a smile on children’s faces as they embrace the new school year,” she said.

Child Welfare Port Shepstone is blessed to have amazing sponsors on board – the Beekman Group as title sponsors, Umthunzi Hotel as a special sponsor, Barry, Botha and Breytenbach, Thompson Motors, Margate Engineering, Mowat and Partners and Jay Rambharos as gold sponsors, as well as Cardinal Motors, Southern Natal Construction, Curnow Natal, Steve Gregory, Erich Buhr, Caryl Peatt and Rowan and Joan D’Arcy as silver sponsors.

A special thanks went to Patrick and Sarah Schultz, Mireille Piccard and Leila Gregory for their patronage as well.

Event co-ordinator and Rotarian Rowan D’Arcy on behalf of the Rotary Club of Port Shepstone said the club wishes to express its gratitude to the South Coast Mall, Shelly Centre, sponsors, South Coast residents and visitors for their tremendous response to the call for support of this worthy cause.

A special word of thanks went to Vee Ramsay from The South Coast Herald for capturing the inherent South Coast bigheartedness.
