The brutal murder of an Umzumbe municipal employee has shocked the community.
Fanele Ngcobo (26) was shot dead near Mehlomnyama last Wednesday afternoon in what is believed to have been an ambush.

The father of four, who was employed as a grader operator at the municipality, was found dead by police officers who noticed the municipal grader standing idle.
Umzumbe Municipality spokesman Sabelo Ncwane confirmed the killing, saying they had lost a very valuable colleague.
“On behalf of the municipality we wish to send our heartfelt condolences to the family and everyone who is affected by his death. Our prayers are with them.”
Family spokesman Sibonelo Ngcobo said they were shocked by the incident.

“We hope the law will take its course and that the perpetrators will be brought to book.”
Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said Mehlomnyama police were investigating.
“Any witnesses are asked to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable TC Dlamini at 079 5013274 or Mehlomnyama police at 039 6953000.”
The funeral will take place at his Ndwedwe home outside Durban this Sunday, April 7.
