Sarel drove more than 80 kilometres inland to get to the home in Izingolweni.

He couldn’t find the house, and waved down Lungelo, who immediately recognised Sarel as the famous local snake catcher. Lungelo obliged by taking Sarel to the house, but only on the condition that he and his crew could come along and watch him catch the snake.

Lungelo was also Sarel’s video man, and managed to catch the snake rescue on video.

Once they got to the house, Sarel used his endoscope to locate the black mamba, which was behind a cupboard.

The family member who had seen the black mamba, one of the world’s most dangerous snakes, entering the house had phoned Sarel immediately.

The family were thrilled that Sarel had saved the day.

“Thanks to Lungelo for his help and going the extra mile to assist me.  I always like to help the community where I can,” said Sarel.
