Scottburgh’s SPCA charity shop turns four

All of the money made from the sale of second-hand goods goes to the welfare and care of animals that have been abandoned, abused or lost by their owners.

APRIL 1st marked the fourth birthday of the Scottburgh SPCA charity shop.

The shop owes its existence to the generous community of Scottburgh and surrounding areas due to items which are donated to be sold.

All of the money made from the sale of second-hand goods goes to the welfare and care of animals that have been abandoned, abused or lost by their owners. While waiting for forever homes for the animals in their care, the SPCA has to feed, inoculate, sterilise and in many cases consult the local vet as the animal is in such poor shape health wise.

“We are thankful for the generous donations of food from Pick n Pay at Scottburgh Mall and Twice As Nice coffee shop as well as the wonderful people who regularly donate clothing, crockery, electric goods or any unwanted items from their homes to the shop which enables us to continue working for this worthy cause,” said managers, Colette and Olwen James.

“After all, we are the voice of the lost and homeless,” Colette added.

Thanks also go to the staff and volunteers of the Scottburgh SPCA who freely give of their time to help at the shop. With the public’s help, especially the folk from Scottburgh, this shop continues to be a success.
