Couple found dead in car at Murchison

A case of murder and an inquest docket have been opened for investigation.

A Murchison man made a gruesome discovery when he found the bodies of two people in a car parked in front of his house last Friday at about 11.20pm.

“Police found a red car parked at the side of the road. The couple inside has been identified as Zamadeyi Goodness Ngaleka and Nkosingiphile Arnold Ngaleka, both aged 38 years. They had both been shot in the upper body,” said police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge.

“The investigation is still ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting of the couple.”

Mrs Ngaleka was a finance officer at Rietvlei Hospital in Umzimkhulu.

After obtaining a diploma in Finance Management at Oxbridge Academy in 2012, she worked in financial positions at St Andrews, St Apollinaris, and the Gamalakhe Community Health Centre.

She was appointed senior finance service officer at Rietvlei Hospital in 2016.

In a statement, KZN Health MEC Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo said, “It was a cruel end to the life of a dedicated public servant, who has been described by her colleagues as “reliable, friendly, hard-working and straight- forward.”

She is survived by an 18-year-old son and four-year-old daughter.

A case of murder and an inquest docket have been opened for investigation by Port Shepstone police.
