Five men recently robbed a house in Acacia Road, Umkomaas, while a 73-year old woman was home.
“She had left her front door open, waiting for her cat to come inside,” said Umkomaas Saps communications officer, Captain Ismail Shaik.
“Suddenly a man wearing a black balaclava entered through the open door. He pointed a firearm at the woman and told her to be quiet.”
Four other men then entered and tied the woman up.

The men went through the house, stealing two tvs, three cellphones, a laptop, an iPad, jewellery and cash before fleeing by car.
“People need to be more vigilant and to always be aware of their surroundings,” said Cpt Shaik, “Security measures must be taken and it is of utmost importance to lock your property at all times.”
